This month we started to read the book of Goldilocks and the three bears.During this story we included a lot of mathematical concepts such as counting the bears,bowls, chairs, beds. Empty, full and big,medium and small size.

The second story that we are doing this month is the book of The Three little pigs.This will open up lots of discussion and activities about looking after each other.

But he could not blow the brick house down!

The wolf climbed down the chimney and he fell on a big pot of boiling water !

We are going to do even the nursery rhyme of twinkle twinkle little star!!!

Topic- Healthy Eating

These next 4 weeks we are going to learn about healthy eating!!!!!

Children in kindergarten are at the perfect age to start to learn about healthy eating concepts. Young children are vulnerable and tend to internalize what they learn and accept it as fact. Having healthy eating policies in place will ensure that kindergarten-age children learn what a nutritious food is as well as how to identify a food that will not provide any nutrition.

This week we started to read the book "The very hungry caterpillar" where the children were introduced to different fruits. we are also reinforcing the numbers and their values from 1 – 5.

In the second week we are going to discuss about different vegetables such as: carrots, Cabbage, cauliflower, mushroom, corn, onion, lettuce, broccoli, potato, peas, etc

During the third week we are going to introduce different types of cereals, pasta, milk

During the last week we are going to talk about different types of meat and the importance of not eating a lot of junk foods and sweets as they are not healthy!!!!!!!!!!! We are going to show children the food pyramid and as an activity children will be encouraged to “choose my plate”

These 3 weeks we are going to do the topic Easter.Children are going to do different activities such as chick basket, flower basket, Rabbit,eggs decorations, cross, etc.

The story of easter is very sad for all of us! However it is very important, that children of all ages need to hear it. Children have to be reminded that Jesus did this out of His immense love for us, and that the story isn't finished yet - the ending is the greatest part of all!

This month (March) we are going to start the topic Garden.

The garden is a wonderful place to ask questions and satisfy kids’ natural curiosity by exploring questions like: What do worms do in a garden? Why do plants have roots and how do they work? Or, why do we have to water plants anyway?

Nothing happens overnight in a garden. Watching seeds grow and change, seeing the seasons pass, and tending to tiny seedlings will help kids gain patience and learn the rhythm of each day, season, and year.

Our first activity with the children is to plant a seed this will improve every child’s fine motor skills. This activity is going to be done in a yoghurt cup and each child will have to take care of it by watering it. As the children will have to learn the importance of light and watering the plant to help her grow up!!!

Children through this topic will learn to Sort, count, and more. Sort different leaves, flowers by their pattern and color! They will learn to count same or different flowers from flash cards such as from small to big flower, and different type of leaves, Children may distinguish same and different, alive and not alive. It’s all basic math !

During this topic we will also talk about different insects we find

in the garden such as bees, spiders, ladybirds, caterpillars, snails

and butterflies, etc…

During the last week of this topic we will talk about keeping the garden clean, by not to throwing papers on the floor but that we should use the litter bins provided to keep a healthy environment around us.

This month ( February) we are going to talk about different animals.

I am going to introduce this topic by reading the book the Noah's ark

First week we are going to talk about Jungle animals Elephant, snake,giraffe,monkey,leopard

This month (January) we are going to learn about people who help us ( Nies li jgħinuna)

This topic is very important for children as they will learn about different jobs around us and to appreciate each work. We are going to learn about the teacher,policemen,doctor,fireman, hairdresser, chef, farmer, postman, driver.

Teacher- L-għalliema

The teacher teaches children new things by using methods that children are attracted too such as puppets, stories,books,sand etc.

Policeman- Puluzija

The policeman is always there to help us and to protect us when we need him.

Doctor- Tabib, Tabiba

The doctor is there when we are sick and s/he gives us medicine to make us feel better.

Fireman- Pumpier

The fireman puts off fire and makes sure that around us is safe.

Hairdresser

The hairdresser cuts our hair and can make us different hair styles

Chef- Kok

The chef cooks different meals for us to eat.

Farmer- Bidwi

The farmer works hard to grow fruit, vegetables and animals for us.

Postman- Pustier

The postman brings letters to our house.

Driver- Xufier

The driver takes us to school ,home and to other places we need to go.

This month (December) we are going to learn about christmas.Christmas is the day when we celebrate the birth of Baby Jesus.

We will learn the Nativity story and discuss the love we should spread throughout the Christmas season and all through the year.

We will also discuss about Santa and his elves building our toys and checking the list to see that we were good children this year.

There are also the reindeers that with magic on Christmas night will fly high in the sky carrying Santa on his sleigh all around the world to give the presents to all the good girls and boys.

This month (November) we are going to start learning about colours !
